Exposed adobe bricks shows construction	Along the road of the El Camino Real, or Royal highway that connected the California missions, the trunks of trees were marked with a cross to help guide travelers to the missions. The above photo is one of the last of such tree trunks that bear the mark of the cross to guide travelers.
