Lara - Soto Adobe
Lara - Soto Adobe was purchased by John Steinbeck in 1944. John Steinbeck lived in the home with his wife Gwyn and their infant son Thom for just a year. John Steinbeck loved the house and said "a house I have wanted since I was a little kid." Steinbeck lived in the Adobe when his book Cannery Row was published in January 1945. The Steinbecks left for Mexico in April of 1945 to help film The Pearl and never returned to the Adobe. Located on 460 Pierce Street.
