Marine Station
The
first marine laboratory on the west coast established in 1892.
John Steinbeck and his sister Mary studied zoology and English
in classes held at the marine station in 1923. John Steinbeck
mentions the station in his book Cannery Row, To a God Unknown,
and in the book the Sea of Cortez. Located on Ocean Blvd., Not
open to the public.
