Downtown Pacific Grove in the
1940s was a place John Steinbeck was at home.
Holmans
Department Store was the place where everyone in town shopped
(on right).

Once located on the roof of the Holmans Department Store was
the Garden Restaurant, it is very possible that
John
Steinbeck may have had a lunch or dinner here.
During the 1940s Lovers Point included a municipal pool where
many locals gathered for lots of people watching, John Steinbeck
would have seen these
crowds gathering along the beach.
