Recently
the community of Pajaro was officially included as part of the neighboring
community of Las Lomas. Pajaro is a farming community just south
of Watsonville and near the Monterey County line. The town was a
named after the Pajaro River given by the Spanish Portola Expedition
who it is said came upon an indian village near a river in which
the inhabitants were cooking a very large bird and so the soldiers
named the river Rio del Pajaro, Spanish for "river of the bird."
Pajaro is home of the "Pajaro Valley Golf Course." |
